Is it popular to go deep sea fishing off central coast California?

Does anyone have any experience going deep sea fishing off the central coast of California, specifically around Morro Bay? I am thinking about taking my Dad on a fishing trip out here but I'm not sure if it is worth it. What kind of fish are in those waters? I know he has been fishing in Hawaii and Alaska so would fishing along the central coast be at all comparable? Thank you for your help.

I am not a fisherman but my friends are avid deepsea fishermen and say that  Morrow Bay has great fishing. Per Morrow Bay site information the types of fish are Vermilion, Copper ,Lingcod, California Sheephead, Greenling, Ocean Whitefish, Rock Sole and Sanddabs
