I have a server running windows server 2008 R2 that contains a web hosting role that is using IIS 7. This server is also a DC, has access to an Active Directory full of users, and is on the same domain as all the client machines that will connect to it. The website will be placed on an intranet (and because I'm paranoid, will be using SSL).
When I set the site up for https, I can no longer use any of the authentication types (digest, basic, windows). The client simply goes directly to a 401 unauthorized user. The interesting part is that when I browse to the website from the server hosting it, I get the login box and all the authentication types work. I'd perfer to get the digest authentication working, but this has stumped me. Any ideas?
