Find out who is using a file on the network

I am trying to find out who is using a database file cuz i need to them to exit out from it and save thier data.

server is windows 2003 domain controller   workstations  windows XP

well is there a way without coding to do it from withen my server or active directory maybe?

the user is already using the database file and i need to send them a message to exit out from it?

locate the .ldb file, copy and open the copy with Word or Text editor

it will list the computer name and the user name
