Insert an additional Sup2 in a Catalyst 6513?

We have a Catalyst 6513 with a single Sup2 and we want to remove a Sup2 from another 6513 that is no longer in use and provide redundancy for the first switch.

Do we need to erase the config before inserting the Sup2?

Is it hot swappable?

Both the Sup2 modules have the same version of CATOS.

Will the active Sup2 overwrite the config of the newly installed Sup2?

It is hot swappable, you do need the same hardware and software version on each SUP,  I assume you mean RPR and not NSF/SSO.

issue the following command to verify redundancy state;
show redundancy states
On existing SUP;
Router> enable
Router# configure terminal
Enter configuration commands, one per line.  End with CNTL/Z.
Router(config)# redundancy
Router(config-red)# mode rpr
Router(config-red)# end

wipe clean the secondary SUP on a different system
