RHEL 5 - Remounting file system read-only

Running RHEL 5.5

Three out of the past five nights, our RHEL 5 server displays the following attached error.  Also, below is the file for when this happens.  To get the server going again, I have to reboot it.  It cleans the journal entries and resumes operation.  However, we need help determine what is causing this to happen and how to fix it.

/var/log/messages:

I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

1st You can try run other kernel.

Since its showing File System Error you can try running fsck  in single user mode or rescue mode
Unmount the file system and run file system check, and if it shows any corruption fix it and check.

If you need further steps please let me know.

Okay so there's a bad entry in a directory - so there is a filesystem error.

As nithinprabhakar says, fsck should fix that - but you will need to keep a close eye on the system and the logs for the next few days as filesystem problems can be an early indication the hard drive is on its way out.

Check to see what's in /var/log/messages and run dmesg regularly to see if there's any errors.
