Project Server 2007 - Your not allow you to administer this Analysis Server

I'm trying to get Project Server 2007 working with SQL Server 2008 R2 as the backend database.  Whenever I try to build the cube, I get this error message:
[4/28/2010 10:33 AM] Failed to build the OLAP cubes. Error: Analysis Services session failed with the following error: Failed to connect to the Analysis Services server [ServerName]. Error: Your permissions on the server computer do not allow you to administer this Analysis server.

I followed the directions outlined in this link:

Can someone please help me troubleshoot?  Thanks!!

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Is this an existing Project Server installation with a new AS and/or DB server or a new Project Server installation? I haven't worked with Project Server in several years (and it was an earlier version) but I would say that the PS service account needs more permissions on the SSAS server than it has right now.

you need to make sure that your SSP is using a DOMAIN account, NOT a local account from the Projectserver box. Then add this domain account to the SQLServerMSASUser$<SERVERNAME>$MSSQLSERVER group on the server where Analysis Services has been installed. If you installed all necessary binaries from SQL on the Projectserver machine (as indicated in the technet article) this should be it.

If not - let me know!

Hi Thomas,

It's using NT AUTHORITY/NETWORK SERVICE.  The problem is that when I try to change it to an NTDOMAIN account, the whole site won't come up.  Can you please tell me what other services need to have the same id in order to get this running?
Big Business Goals? Which KPIs Will Help You

The most successful MSPs rely on metrics – known as key performance indicators (KPIs) – for making informed decisions that help their businesses thrive, rather than just survive. This eBook provides an overview of the most important KPIs used by top MSPs.

Dr. Thomas HenkelmannDirector Consulting ServicesCommented:
The issue you're having with the site after changing the SSPs account is that the NT AUTHORITY/NETWORK SERVICE has been used to access the SQL Server databases during setup. Changing this is a major might be easier to remove the provisioned Projectserver site(s),  then the SSP. Then create a new SSP with a DOMAIN account, create the Projectserver site(s) by using the existing databases (you need to add this DOMAIN account to the 4 SQL database as db_owner before). Now add this DOMAIN account on your Analysis Services box.
Before you do all this: I think I never tried to add the NT AUTHORITY/NETWORK SERVICE to the Analysis Services group I mentioned....could be worth trying.

I did add the account to the MSAS group and still no dice.  Tried uninstalling and re-installing Project Server yesterday to the point the server (virtual) had to be rebuilt.

I appreciate your direction on the SSP issue and may give that a try.
