Outlook will not start - Exchange or Outlook issue?

Getting error for a mailbox when starting up Outlook "Microsoft Office Outlook has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience."  I suspect it's not an Outlook or desktop issue since I can open my own profile on this machine without issues.  This error comes up no matter what machine the user logs onto.  The user is able to log on to their mailbox usign OWA with no issues.  I gave myself full access to the mailbox and I added to my Outlook profile.  I can open the mailbox through my folder list and open messages with no problems.  I've tried opening Outlook in safe mode but I get the same message.  Using Exchange 2007, Outlook 2007/2003.  Any ideas?

I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

From a command line run Outlook /safe   if it opens you have an add-on program issue.

This opens Outlook in safe mode.

Event view error "Faulting application outlook.exe, version 12.0.6514.5000, stamp 4a89dc70, faulting module outlook.exe, version 12.0.6514.5000, stamp 4a89dc70, debug? 0, fault address 0x00a1154e.".  I've tried oening Outlook in Safe Mode using the user's profile... same error.  We've also recreated the user's profile... same error.  This error message "Microsoft Office Outlook has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience" comes up on four different workstations  and only when logging into the mailbox that is having issues.  When logged in with any other profile Outlook comes up just fine.

Only this mailbox?   Sounds like there is a piece of mail that Outlook does not like if its only this use and on multiple workstations.   Can you login to OWA and look for a odd email?

If it happends on "four different workstations"
If you can't login to OWA with the userid then there is something off on the mailbox...

The soultion may soud  crazy. Just move the mailbox to a different store. It will work (you can move it back later)

Does not sound crazy...this will fix this if this is to my point of the mailbox having issues.

Moved the mailbox to a different store... same problem.  Mailbox works fine through OWA.  Perhaps there is a corrupt message, I went through all the messages but didn't find odd emails.

When did this start happening?   Delete back to this a good known date...to see if you can find it then restore.

Or give yourself permissions to the users mbx then add the profile to your profile to see if you have the same problem.
