Need to have formula in 1 cell assign a value to another cell.

Need to have the results of an IF place a value in another cell.  How do I assign a value to a cell from a formula in another cell?

I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

you would put the If formula in a the cell you want changed.

Put this in B1 (the value to be changed) and it will look up in A1 (the lookup value).  If A1 is "a", then B1 is 'Yes' otherwise B1 is 'No'.
=IF(A1="a","Yes","No")
