Can I use a temporarily Domain name to do an installation of a system and later join de system to the real domain ?

Can I use a temporarily Domain name (Windows Server 2003) to do an installation of a 800xA System? I will test the system. After, I will disconnect the system and join the system to the real domain (with the same name as the temporarily Domain Name). Can I after migrate informations (like username and policy) from Temporarily Domain name to the New Domain Name?

I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Technically, there is no reason why this wouldn't work.
any groups, users etc that are created as part of the installation must be re-created on the live domain when you join it up.

You would have to unjoin the temp, and then join the production, which would eliminate most traces of the old domain. Plus usernames for one, even if all info looks identical, aren't... SID's are used to differentiate usernames, and the SID resolution would not work once you joined the production domain.

If I recreate usernames and reassign groups and permission in the production domain. Will all programs(800xa System, Office, AVG..etc) in the migrated PC will run normally?

I see no reason why not.

The SID's won't be the same, even if the CN/DN's are... SID's are what resolves names in explorer. Add a user to a goup in AD... delete that user after 30 minutes have past. Go look at that group again, you will see the user's SID and not the user's name. It won't work like you think, I've not tried, but that's what I predict. SID's are composed of two parts, the predictable portion and the random portion:
