QuickBooks sdk 64 bit machine

In the documentations intuit advises:

"Creating Applications that Can Run on 64-Bit Operating Systems
If you want your SDK application to run on a 64-bit machine, and are using Visual Studio
to develop it, you must have the compiler options set properly. In particular, you must set
the Platform Target to x86."

So I went to the configuration manager and I click to change the active platform, I selected  new, copy setting I selected empty now I tried it again but I get the same error message:

"Retrieving the COM class factory for component with CLSID {BF97F9A2-A475-4F26-9B5B-3A14F02D9824} failed due to the following error: 80040154"

Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.
