Server 2008 Script to "detect new hardware"

Hi Experts,

I have a backup device that gets dropped (unplugged) when a removable off-site backup cartridge is ejected from the device.  Won't go into detail, but apparently the device does not play well with Win 2008 x64.

As a workaround, after a cartridge is removed from the device, if I go to Device Manager and right click the top item and select "Scan for hardware changes", the server re-detects the device and the next backup is fine.

I'd like a script (WSH or Powershell?) which I can schedule that will perform this automatically for me, until the drive's vendor comes up with new x64-compatible firmware.

Please let me know if you know how to accomplish this action programmatically.  UAC is enabled.

Thanks!
