Does anyone know how to get around error 15212 in Quickbooks 2010?

I have followed all instructions from the Quickbooks 2010 support site and I still cannot get my system to update Quickbooks. I keep getting the following error:

[Error 15212] The QuickBooks update did not complete successfully.

The location set for the shared download is not accessible.

I have tried QuickBooks instructions on disabling shared downloads and it still does not work. I have repaired, and uninstalled and reinstalled (even into a different directory) and still no love.

I did have a corrupted user on Windows 7 and created a brand new user with the program installed under a new User and new directory....no love :(

I have not removed the corrupted user from my system and I am using the new User.

System Specifics:
QuickBooks 2010 R6 Failed Updates
Windows 7 (64 bit system)
Quickbooks 3 User license where we access the data file from a separate server.
The other two QuickBooks users CAN get updates and is working propoerly.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

is it possible that the corrupt user has corrupted a part into your system and also is it possible you may be blocking updates via ur pc/routers/firewalls? are they using it on the same pc you are trying to access from or another also?

ASKER

I do not see any evidence that anything else is malfunctioning. Every program (even QuickBooks) is running great and I have network connectivity internally and externally.
Make sure your router has ports ports 443, 80 and 10160 open (or at least one of them).

Also make sure a personal firewall on the computer isn't blocking qbw32.exe or qbupdate.exe

I see that port 101600 was being blocked but McAfee is asking for the Local TCP/IP Ports and Local UDP Ports. What would I put in these two spaces??
Well, I'll be darned...I ran the program as an Administrator and now the updates are working!!!

Thanks to user CrystalMethod, this problem is solved!!
:) Np. I'm kinda surprised no one thought of that before I mentioned it.
Ha...me too. It never crossed my mind to Run as Administrator.

Thanks so much!
