Mount issue with DVD-ROM

Hi experts,

On one of the LPAR, i need to mount DVD-ROM.
#lsdev -Cc cdrom
cd0 Avaiilable 00-08-00 SATA DVD-ROM Drive

If i try to mount
mount -v udfs /dev/cd0 /mnt
Couldn't open the device: Device not ready.

How to fix this issue?
How i come to know the LPAR having DVD-ROM?

Have you tested it? Looks to me like it could be faulty. One thing you could try is stick some media in it and try to read a few blocks with dd, but a conclusive hardware test would be to plug it into a PC and see if the PC sees it.

Hi sir,
As per your suggestion: i performed below activity. But still i am not getting mount point. And i went through HMC GUI as suggested by you. I am not finding any DVD slot for that Lpar.

lodhabidev #rmdev -dl cd0
cd0 deleted
lodhabidev #lsdev -Cc cdrom
lodhabidev #cfgmgr
lodhabidev #lsdev -Cc cdrom
cd0 Available 00-08-00 SATA DVD-ROM Drive
lodhabidev #mount -v cdrfs /dev/cd0 /mnt
mount: 0506-324 Cannot mount /dev/cd0 on /mnt: The file system has read permission only.
