ASP.NET read/rename/copy files on a Linux FTP drive

I have an asp.net (3.5) application.

I'm using the File.Copy() to copy a file from one Dir to another. I am also renaming these files. On a simple windows server this is a piece of cake. But alas that all changed.

Our new file system is a linux box and our access point is an ftp dir.

my question:

how can I read a file from the ftp, rename it, check to see if the file already exists and then copy it to a different directory on the linux box if not exists, if it does exist add a -1(or-2, -3, etc..)?

thanks very much.
