On an HP server with dual power supplies, are both supplies splitting the load, or is one in a standby mode?

I have 12 HP Proliant servers with redundant power supplies. In normal use, are both supplies working and splitting the load, or is one supply in standby mode? The reason I ask is this. Each server connects to the two UPS units I have. Each UPS is operating at 55-60% of capacity (13.5 amps). If one of the UPS fails, will the load on the good UPS jump to 110-120% (27 amps), and blow the 20 amp breaker?
