On an HP server with dual power supplies, are both supplies splitting the load, or is one in a standby mode?

CraigMan asked
I have 12 HP Proliant servers with redundant power supplies. In normal use, are both supplies working and splitting the load, or is one supply in standby mode? The reason I ask is this. Each server connects to the two UPS units I have. Each UPS is operating at 55-60% of capacity (13.5 amps). If one of the UPS fails, will the load on the good UPS jump to 110-120% (27 amps), and blow the 20 amp breaker?

They will split the load when they are both active, so if one fails it will cause the entire load to shift to the active power supply.
