Create a CSR for a SSL Certificate for SQL Server

How do you Create a CSR for a SSL Certificate for MS SQL Server 2008.  I want to order the certificate from a commercial company Like VeriSign etc.

There will be connections to this server from the internet we want to make it on a non-standard port. There will be a firewall with only that port open.

I have read this article before.

I do not see any where in here where it talks about creating a CSR.

What am I missing about putting an SSL certificate on a SQL server.

Have you ever done this?

When you register for a certificate at Verisign and other SSL providers during the registration process a CSR will be generated for you.

If you want to create a self signed certificate, or a free cacert.org certificate, you can download different tools to generate CSR's here:

The answer did not address everything but got me stated. The easiest way to do this is to create a certificate in IIS with the same FQDN and then use that certificate in SQL. This link helped me a lot.
