Issue with filtering and freeze panes in Excel 2007

Hi experts,

I have an issue with a users Excel book.
Its a shared workbook in a Citrix environment with three presentation servers and it's affecting 2/3 users and I don't know where the problem lies.

If a user filters by state, all happy, freeze panes still happen
when a user removes the filter, and selects all, then they can no-longer scroll and the freeze panes are affected.
The only way to fix it then is to remove the split and the freeze and then re-do it.
I've checked, and its not something simple like Scroll lock, and I've also tested scrolling all the way to the top to cell A1 and then removing the filter, but that still affects the freeze panes.

This is frustrating because despite showing the user what to do, he still comes and pesters me to fix it each time it happens.

Hello Phreakwently,

shared workbooks have a reputation for funny behaviour and for becoming corrupt over time. Make sure you have a strict backup regime when using shared workbooks, because it's a question of when and not if they start misbehaving.

As long as the workbook is shared, you will probably not find a solution or workaround.

We have shadow copies that happed at 5am and 12pm so and tape backup each night, so we got a good chance there.

What gets me, is why it affects one user, but not another, when they're both in it at the same time. I suspect maybe a client setting but I wouldn't know where to start looking.

I'd chalk it up to sharing the file. It's impossible to troubleshoot shared workbooks, because you cannot rely on the behaviour being consistent.

Not quite the answer I was after, I was hoping for a solution but a "you probably won't figure this one out, its just shared workbooks" is at least an answer I can take back to the users.

Thanks for you help.
