Create an SPF record for Exchange server 2004

Hi

I would like to create an SPF record for my exchange server, the email works in the following way

1. Email to goes to host
2. Email is is pulled into exchange using a pop 3 connector
3. Email is sent via smtp smtp1.betherenow.co.uk (Broadband provider)

The local domain is in the format shortdomainname.local the email doamin name is longdomainname.co.uk

The server is Windows Server 2003 SP2 running Exchange 2003 SP2

So you are using Small Business Server 2003?   And you're using smtp1.betherenow.co.uk as your smart host for sending out every single piece of email from your domain?

That is correct, yes
"v=spf1 a:smtp1.betherenow.co.uk ~all"

This would work in your scenario.

and do I create the SPF record on my server or on the external DNS server for my domain

depending on whose hosting your website...they usually have a wizard for creating this
