Cannot rename folder

pospichalales
on
I created folder and new user.
I set ownership to this new user, I also granted full control for this new user and I set full control permissions for group named Management.
Administrator´s account is not in this group. I am administrator and need to rename this folder. I tried to change ownership to Administrator and Administrators. I tried to grant full permissions to administrator too.
I am still unable to rename this folder. It writes for example: You require permission from DOMAIN\Administrator to make chages to this folder.
Where can be problem?

Did you try to get ownership when you login with new user?
This article is for Windows 7, which has the same technology as Server 2008. I know you have already tried part of this, however if you go through the steps in the order he suggests, I think you're problem goes away

Hope that helps!

No, I did not try it. I do not know if they are available to rename their folders, but they can access folders and read/write.

As I know If you are not administrator you can just change ownership with the current ownership account. Please try to get ownership to administrator by login with new user, then try to rename folder by login administrator account. don't forget to check inherit subfolders on ownership screen.

I tried it, but if I try to rename this folder, I get this: You require permission from Administrators to make chages to this folder.
Administrators have full control and are owners of this folder.

Restart your computer first. If I were you I try to get ownership from 1 step upper folder to administrator again by checking inherit permission to child folders. Then try again. And if it is not solution try to apply latest OS Service pack and try this step again.  Also, check file properties if  it is locked, read only etc. Check security of file. Is there any inherit from up folder. Break inherintence then apply ownership steps again. It should be solved.
Regards,
My problem was caused, because I had only read permissions from parent folder.

If you are owner of the folder, you should change attributes of folder with this user. If you could not, apply latest service pack and try it again..
