Hi;

Can someone tell me if I buy a DELL Vostro 3500 laptop with a 9-cell battery, how many hour can be last longer for under a normal usage.

And, it has an option for "encrypted harddrive", how it work?  Does user need sign on with a passphrase?  I was using PGP whole disk encryption, I was asked to enter passphrase whenever I turned on computer, is it working the same way?

I had a Dell D630 for work.  I believe that the 9 cell battery lasted between 4 to 6 hours.  Much nicer than a standard battery which I'd say is 2 to 3 hrs.

Hard-drive encryption is a technology that encrypts the data stored on a hard drive using sophisticated mathematical functions. Data on an encrypted hard drive cannot be read by anyone who does not have access to the appropriate key or password.

PGP whole disk encryption appears to be the same thing.

first of all, thanks for your quick response.

That will be great if 9-cell can support more than 4 hours.

I knew the encryption technology but the Vostro 3500 has a built in hard drive encryption option, I do not know how it is implemented on DELL.
The length of time that your battery will last depends on what you are doing on your machine.  Keep in mind that wireless drains a battery more than a wired connection does.
