How can I configure the "Virtual Audio Cable" utility to record all computer sounds? When I try to use it, it records only the "really loud sounds," and not all computer sounds.

I downloaded "Virtual Audio Cable" utility from this website: ... http://software.muzychenko.net/eng/vac.html

I would prefer to use this sort of solution, rather than having to run a 1/8" stereo headphone cable from my computer's headphone jack into my computer's microphone jack.

I now that theoretically, the "Virtual Audio Cable" utility is supposed to be able to record all computer sounds, but so far I have been unable to get it to do this.

What sort of configuration or settings do I need to configure or change?

My operating systems are Windows XP SP3 and Windows Vista 64 bit.

Hi Knowledgeable
actually I dont believe any of these recorder can record all your computer sounds?? If you're referring to like the bios beep or mouse noises etc?
They can only record what you hear.( steremix)
Do you have full duplex audio card ( stereomix) option in the recording?
I get the impression you don't,what you said here>>rather than having to run a 1/8" stereo headphone cable from my computer's headphone jack into my computer's microphone jack<<
do you have a line out?
What is it that you want to record?
saying all your computer's unfortunately reads and sounds exactly like that, not really descriptive.
Then I'll try and assist you
