Hi,

We've got a customer that's moving from SBS 2003 to a Pure Windows Server 2008 / Exchange 2010 environment. They're big users of Remote Web Workplace however, can you advise if there's a version I can setup on W2k8 or something that's bundled with it that's similar?

Thanks

You can set up the TS-Gateway service to accomplish the same net effect. It will *not* be web based, but users won't have to use a VPN client either. They'll use th "remote desktop" client that has come with windows since at least XP and will connect to their machines through the TS-Gateway. It'll take some setup on your part...things that were automated via the SBS setup scritps no longer will be, but it does work if the IT staff can handle it.

OK. The users are retards, so this will prove difficult. Is there a Remote Web Workplace add-on that can be installed?

No, there is no Remote Web Workplace for standard server - it's a feature of SBS as well as the many wizards for setup.  Is there a reason they are moving away from SBS?  Have they approached the user limit?

No need for exchange or sql any more, just a file and print server. What about a 3rd party app?
I'm going to setup port forwards on the router and just have people RDP direct through...

So you have little concern with security.  And little concern with making this easy - people would then need to specify the port which would limit them to using the RDP client in Windows (TSWEB for example would not work).  Is there a reason something secure like VPN isn't being considered?

Thanks for all the input.
Without a suitable RWW substitute we're using RDP direct through using port translations.

there is no RWW for plain server 2008."

This is what I said in comment 32967451 - "No, there is no Remote Web Workplace for standard server".  Why sis my comment not being accepted as an answer
