Recommendations for a home user NAS setup

Dave
Dave asked

Hi,

I am looking for recommendations on a NAS setup

I will award points to solutions that provide me useful detail (ie other articles, links etc) and address meaningfully the following list of considerations.

Please do not respond with comments such as "Buy XYZ" or "I like ABC"
I will not award points to any such lightweight responses and I may ask for the Mods to delete them if I think they cause my question to lose visibility

Considerations
I'm not cost constrained but not looking for gold plated solutions either
I'm about a 3/5 on the tech scale and ability to troubleshoot where a 2 is an average user. Better than average but not great
I will be mirroring the data, flexible on raid setup but will probably look for 4 drives
I do use torrents and would like flexibility for this on the NAS
I currently stream video wirelessly to my XBOX 360

Regards

Dave

Hi,
You can go through the following article that summarize the things you need to look into before setting up the network

Different NAS solutions :

Thx

Although I note both these articles are dated (2006 & 2007). I am looking for current information to help with a purchase decision

Cheers

Hi,
You can go to the feature set of each NAS equipment listed below and pick the best that suits your requirement and pocket.

My personal recommendation is the Western Digitial My book world edition

Best of luck and happy configuration.

Hi,
thx
I have been through the cnet reviews already, but the compnetwork at least has a new list to work through that I hadn't seen previously
I will be leaving this question open for now as I was hoping for expert advice beyond information that I had , or could dig out from the tech sites and google searches. I will award you at least some of the points for your input
