BANDWIDTH THROTTLING - CAP ON 20MB

I need to limit upload/download traffic for all host on my outside vlan, cap it to 20MB. The bursting capabilities the ISP provides is costing too much money.

Can somebody help with the right configuration? I did a little research and I have a pretty good idea of policing, etc. Because it's a production environment I don't want to play around with it.

One method would be rate-limiting.

20971520 (bits) = 20Mbit
10485760 (bits) = 10Mbit

The rate limit commands below take a 20Mbit interface and limits it to use only 10Mbit for normal and max burst.

Router(config)#interface FastEthernet0
Router(config-if)#rate-limit input 20971520 10485760 10485760 conform-action continue exceed-action drop
Router(config-if)#rate-limit output 20971520 10485760 10485760 conform-action continue exceed-action drop

Are you sure? Doesnt seem to be a Cisco ASA type of command but IOS for routers and switching.

I was looking into this, just didnt want to play around with it, dont want downtime in a production environment.
