Windows Server 2008 has SysPrep built-in under C:\Windows\System32\SysPrep.
I guess this is why the Guest Customization Wizard of vCenter is failing.

Please check the datastore for free space and update whether you have any snapshots for this VM.

600 gb free, no snapshots
What Role is being provided by this Virtual Machine ? Is it a Domain Controller, SQL Server or is it a barebone installation of Windows Server 2008 ?
Avatar of Steven

ASKER

it's a barebone install of Server 2008 Standard SP2
If the VM is powered on, try powering it off and then initiate the cloning process.

it has been off the entire time
Where is the source VMDK file stored and where are you trying to clone the new VMDK, to a new datastore or to the same datastore with a different VM name ?
