It's hard to believe, but I had it installed on the network at the last company I worked.  It is pretty neat.  They have an explanation of why it's free on their website.  It was very helpful just from the standpoint of helping IT keep up with computer issues.  There is very good support for help desk tickets and it is web based.  It is pretty straightforward as far as installing.  Nothing lost in trying it out.

The company i work for uses TestTrack Pro. http://www.seapine.com/ttpro.html

It works really well, and has a fairly intuitive interface.
lobo797 is right, your best bet is Spiceworks.

We can try to help with each and every question that comes during install, but seriously, Spiceworks does a much better job of it.  They have videos and webinars to get you started.  Spiceworks is serious about supplying a solution which answers your initial requests that it be free and web based.  An added benefit is that you will learn many more tips and tricks from their information.
