WSS 3.0 to Sharepoint 2010 Migration

First thing I looked for was any previous help on this problem.

Came across this ticket.
http://www.experts-exchange.com/OS/Microsoft_Operating_Systems/Server/MS-SharePoint/Q_26219768.html

I was hoping to avoid using a MOSS 2007 server but the only other option is to purchase migration software. I also tried Xavor's free software tool but it doesn't connect to 2010 properly at the moment.

So I tried the instructions from the EE link above but they are a bit vague and don't appear to work.

I installed Server 2003 and MOSS 2007 on a new VMWARE instance, I backed up the WSS_Content SQL database and restored it on the MOSS 2007 server but the content doesn't load. I just get the default start page.

I need some more assistance with this in order to complete our Sharepoint 2010 migration.

Are you moving from WSS 3.0 to SharePoint Foundations? or SharePoint 2010?

Sharepoint 2010. I have the server already setup, I just need to migrate the content.
Found out how to get this going.

Export WSS_Content from SQL using Management Studio

Create blank site
Remove Content Database from Sharepoint Admin page

Use management studio to import the database, using overwrite commands.

Run sharepoint management shell as administrator

Use command:

Mount-SPContentDatabase -Name WSS_Content -DatabaseServer SERVERNAME\SHAREPOINT -WebApplication <WEB ADDRESS> -Updateuserexperience
