IBM 346 8840 crashes when trying to use both processors with 2008 R2 64Bit

I have installed Server 2008 R2 64 bit on our IBm 346 8840. Seems like this should be a good machine for doing backups to our D2D system. However when I put in the second processor, it immediately crashes.

Any advice as to why this is happening?

Please give us some details about this crash. The best way is posting your minidump files here.
It may be caused by poorly written driver or hardware issues. You can also upgrade your BIOS to be sure it has known bugs corrected.

I did upgrade the bios as a possible solution. Didn't help.
I ended up taking one processor out and the machine would then boot. I then loaded up Server 2008 R2 64bit, did all the updates I could. Currently the machine is working perfectly. When trying to reinstall the second processor, the machine goes through the loading of the Bios etc, then goes to the screen where one can pick the operating system. I pick the default install, it tries to start and then reboots. It will not come back to the screen where I can pick the operating system, but rather just reboots and reboots and reboots. Then took out the processor again.....machine is working fine now. So I don't believe there is a minidump, because it doesn't blue screen or anything.

Did you try to swap your CPUs? Work with second one only? It may be damaged...
