Cannot copy files or folder from cd to hard drive

When trying to copy any file or folder from a cd, flashdrive, etc to the hard drive I get the msg "you'll need to provide administrator permissions to copy this folder"

This only started after adding an addition hard drive to my system.  Are there some kind of settings I need to make to the additional hard drive
to correct this problem?

the are no lock sysbols on either hard drive nor on any files.  After being told I need permission the files then copies to the hard drive but when you click on the file it only opens a blank window.

Turn off (disable) your anti-virus suite while doing that. I am replacing my desktop and now copying the old backup drive onto a new backup drive using a USB - IDE enclosure. I had that same message on one file and when I allowed it through, Symantec poppped up a warning. I had seen it on that file some time back. See if that helps. ... Thinkpads_User

Tks for reply.  Finally solved problem by reinstalling secondary hard drive.  Don't know why that worked thought
