Lenovo T60 - diskspace

I am using Lenovo T60 with Windows 7. It has HDD with 69 GB. 6 GB are available.
In system health  in ThinkVantage I get a warning of low diskspace.
Will this affect the performance of my computer, for example how fast and well Visual Studio 2010 works? If not can I use all available diskspace without affecting the performance?

The less disk space you have the more heavily you will notice a performance decrease due to fragmentation.  To increase the amount of free space on your hard drive there are several things you can do

1)  In the recycling bin properties change the amount of disk space that it is allowed to use

2)  In your system properties window (windows key + pause break)-->advanced system settings-->open up the "system protection" tab and hit configure for the system restore.  Lowering the amount of disk space used for system restore will help.

3)  Delete all of your temporary files through either one of two methods:
a) if your familiar with the command prompt then type
cd %temp%
del *.* -f

(NOTE:  BEFORE YOU TYPE DEL *.* MAKE SURE THAT YOU ARE IN THE TEMP DIRECTORY)

b)  Download Ccleaner, awesome program  helps out a lot.

That computer comes with Rescue and Recovery. Check the R&R settings to see if it is enabled and making backups. That will chew up disk space. Only you can decide how much space (if any) you wish to provide for backups.

Check also System Restore settings. That may be set too high.  Also run Disk Cleanup. This removes temporary files (somewhat like above but on a broader scale and safely).
