Exchange defrag with ESEUTIL - Operation terminated with error -1108
hi all,
I'm attempting to do an offline defrag on a large exchange database (around 55GB) on a SBS2003 box. The process gets to around 95% or so (so it seems on the the progress bar) than errors as follows:
Operation terminated with error -1108 (JET_errInTransaction, Operation not allowed within a transaction) after 24883.63 seconds.
can anyone shed any light on this?
thanks

thanks for the suggestions, I'll work through them starting Friday night (customer is a law firm and can't have any down time during the week if at all possible). Will get back to you.

Hello, sorry I was unable to test the fix on the weekend for various reasons. If I can't do it on friday night or saturday it has to wait til the following weekend. I shall report back after trying it this weekend (unless the kids get sick again).
Sure no problem :-)
Any update?
ASKER
Not as yet. Haven't been permitted to do it last weekend due to staff working all weekend. Am pushing the point now.

Have awarded points to both as I did end up with a single corrupted mailbox after doing the repair steps and so followed the instructions inthe thread about creating a new mailstore and moving mailboxes to it as well.
thanks all.
thanks all.
I have seen defrags fail at 95% and then work properly the next time they are run.
Make sure your server AV software is not scanning .EDB files or any other exchange files for that matter (logs checkpoints etc...)
