I'm not seeing Java or Hotmail mentioned in any of that.
I'm not having problems with IE just Hotmail.

you access hotmail with which browser ?
IE
but I am not having an IE problems, just hotmail.
So, I wondered resetting IE when the only site I was having problems with was Hotmail.

Maybe some antimalware softwares are on your computer blocking script or setting security too high.
If you can, resetting your IE settings is a good start... do it or wait for best help.
ok, but the article said resetting defaults are irreversable and may affect other websites, etc.
I only get java script on Hotmail, not any other IE browsers.
Trying to understand to do something to my entire system when only hotmail is involvment.
Maybe a new version of Java?
System restore?
I'm not understanding java script. Let me understand that and what it is.
Hotmail is a Microsoft product. If should work perfect with Windows OS's and browsers.

Until you (or any of your programs, updates,...) change something in the IE settings.

Not to long ago, I had a trojan on my system.  It was in the Javascript automatic update area of my program files.  I really had not noticed anything but there it was when I did a full scan one day.
I really have not had any hotmail problems and javascript since the question was asked (the date).
I've always wanted Sun Microsystems and Mr. Gates to get together and make Microsoft Products and Java products more friendly with each other since we use both.
I'll run a scan and also check some settings.

I am not saying the trojan came for Sun Microsystems that is just where the file was placed.  It was very strange - a long alphanumeric name with no extension.
ok, I thought Java was a Sun Mircrosystems produt

and since many months ago Sun was taken over by Oracle I think?
