you can create custom installation CD on your computer equiped with DVD drive. Use nlite (http://www.nliteos.com/nlite.html) fand then select to burn it as CD's.

I have personally tried to install Windows 2008 server from CD it was a nightmare and I never could get it to work properly. I would purchase an external DVD drive then install from here you will be better off.

Make sure before you upgrade to check to see if the server you have supports Windows 2008 server.
