ASKER

No that does not help me

A: I have Mcafee as a security solution
b: I dont have ISA
C: Sites like face book have multiple IP addresses so filtering would be a nightmare

you should be able to do it on the DNS server!!!

Simon
I don't believe your going to be able to do this with just SBS 2008. Your going to need to invest in a good firewall with some filtering choices or some web filtering software such as websense.
I guess you could create a zone called facebook.com in DNS then configure a host A record for www pointing somewhere random, that might scupper them.

are you able to use URL filtering at your gateway?  if not a crude way but as MojoTech suggests you could create a DNS zone and fire it back to one of your own servers.

A common solution is to obtain an account with OpenDNS (free), set your DNS forwarders on your SBS to point to their DNS servers rather than your ISP, and then with your OpenDNS account you can restrict various domains.
