Cannot access Cisco 2600 types random characters

I have a cisco 2600 router laying around here at work. I was going to wipe the config but when I connect via the console cable the router types random characters when I press any keys. What is it doing and how can I wipe it?  User generated image

I am using 9600. The same config works on a Cisco switch I have sitting on my desk.

I am connected with:
9600
8
None
1
None

The only time I have had issues is when using certain terminal software or when I have additional options accidently selected like XON/XOFF etc

So as you appear to have the correct settings check any other config options or try other emulation software maybe, try the secure CRT trial from Vandyke, that was the only one I was happy with after trying 10 or so different emulators.

wizzie83 you were right. I noticed the characters would change if I went higher than 9600. I had to set it to 115200 and it worked. Thank you.
