Save Publishign site as template in SharePoint 2010

Greetings all

I have a publishing site that needs to be saved as a template  (there are approximately 43 simiiar sites to be built!).

I used this method "http://YOURSHAREPOINTPUBSITE/_layouts/savetmpl.aspx" to be able to save the site as a template.

When we create a site based on the template, it gives us a 404 error (Although an empty site structure is created)>

Any thoughts as to how we can get this working?

In advance, thanks!!

Check the publishing site collection features? Make sure that everything is available??
Unfortunately, MOSS does not support saving publishing sites as a template. There are two things you can do to get around this - Deactivate the Publishing feature, create your template and then turn it back on again, or simply append /_Layouts/AreaTemplateSettings.aspx to the end of the base URL to create the template.

Be aware that if you have applied any master pages or style sheets that depend on the publishing features, this may not work too well. If this is a possibility, try it in a dev environment first. Good luck! :-)
