I am trying to move a Maximizer Enterprise 9.5 database to a new server. I am using Pervasive 9 on the database server. I would like to know the proper procedure to move the database to a new server.

Thanks.

The simple answer is that you need to move the data from the old server to the new server and then recreate any Pervasive Database Names and ODBC entries.

A longer answer is that Pervasive stores its database typically in one directory with one data file per table and a set of databases.

If you know where the data files and DDFs are located, you can copy them from the old server to the new server and point Maximizer to the new server (after installing PSQL on the new server) and it should just work.
If you don't know where the data files are located, you can load the Pervasive Monitor while Maximizer is running and look at the "Active Files" option under "Microkernal Usage" to see the data files and directories of open files.

I've copied all the files over to the new server but Maximizer doesn't seem to see anything in the database. When I look at the database in Pervasive I don't see any entries under Tables. Do I need to have Maximizer create the databse structure before it can read the files? And if so, how?

Thanks.

You also need to copy the DDF files from the original server that are being used by Maximizer. You'd want to create the database using the same path structure as the original database on the original server.

You'd need to change the Maximizer configuration to point to the new data location as well.

I have moved all the files including the DDF files and I have configured the Pervasive database the same as the old server. I have added the address book to Maximizer but it doesn't bring me to a login screen. It just sits at the Open Address Book screen.
