Unable to retrieve server list from TGCS002: 64

C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator.OUR>

unable to retrieve list from dc2 ?????

Note

I just put a cisco router on the network removed the original router which now is on the inside of the network I mean the cisco has the access to the internet and the actiontech wan port plugs into the cisco ethernet port my tvs connect to the action tech they get an ip address of 192.168.1.100  my cisco router is 192.168.69.1 so I have two subnets i guess
this can be an issue i think but do not know how to resolve it

I am getting errors on both DC's

this one appears on a regular basis it thinks dc1 is a master why?

can both routers be the issue?

do I need to set someting in either router to stoip this?

I never had a home netowkr with more than one router before new territory for me

I found this

Make sure the routers on the network are not forwarding UDP broadcasts, keeping browser elections on NetBT local to each subnet

How do I do that on my routers

1 cisco
2. actiontech

Can you provide a topology of your network.

Netbios is used to populate the browselist and elect a master browser. These netbios broadcasts should be held to the broadcast domain. (This is different than a domain).

A broadcast domain, is separated by a router or a VLAN. This means that anything on one side of the router is a broadast domain, anything on the other is a different broadcast domain.

To route between two broadcast domains, the article you read stated to premit UDP packets across the router. That is a very big mistake to IT security.

For now, I want to give you an article to educate you on the master browser and how elections are done.

Then, we can discuss what your intentions are.
