How Can I Delete a corrupted EMail Message "empty delete folder" OR "exchange Version: 6.5" -inbox, -outbox

Exchange user has a email message in the deleted folder that will not empty. "the message interface has returned an unknown error" Looking at the message itself I have gray banner at the top that says "You have made changes to another copy of this Item".  I have tried several things but the message will duplicate itself in a conflicts folder if you keep trying to permanently delete it.

Try to go offline and delete the message.
Under File, select work offlline, wait a minute, close outlook, open it back up, make sure you are offline (bottom right hand corner), and try to delete the message.
If successful, go back online by unchecking the work offline menu item.
Hope this helps

Even thought your solution did not fix my problem It did give me another choice in it's repair. I used remote desktop to the PC and user account. I used exchange outlook delete folder command without any success. Outlook kept giving me sync conflicts, and kept duplicating the same message when trying to delete them. With Outlook open I took it offline. I then used web browser web access into exchange server. I logged in as the person and I could empty the messages from his mailbox deleted folder all but the main message that was  stuck or (corrupted in some way) But putting outlook offline I then was able to open the defective file and delete it. I went back to outlook using remote desktop and put the software back online and once the main mailbox resynchronization the delete folder was clean.

Was not a fix per-say. But it gave me an idea for fixing the problem. I used the web access to the exchange server to delete the defective e-mail message from the mailbox. Direct connection with outlook to exchange server would not delete defective message.
