Hi;
I need to confirm my diagnostic.  My son's computer is based on the ASUS P4S8X-X,
http://www.asus.com/999/html/events/mb/socket478/p4s8x-x/overview.htm
when he is browsing and the site has a lot of images the computer will BEEP, there is not a pattern with the beeps, also if using iTunes with cover flow it will start beeping.

At first I suspected the Video card, changed it ant the beeps continued, so I opened the task administrator and selected "Performance", I found that the beeps where a little before than the CPU hiting more than 50% usage.

I suspect that the CPU may be overheating when has mid to heavy process running.
I'm planning on changing the cooling fan.

Any ideas before I do change the fan?

Maybe you won't need to change the Fan, check it if it has dust and dirt, if it, clean it then try again, may this help and save some money

It is probably a setting in the BIOS to beep if the temp reaches a certain level.

If  do that and the fan isn't working correctly I'll burn the CPU.
You can try monitoring with a CPU temperature monitor.

That could happen but maybe it is set to low.
In any case if the fan is working on the cooler probably all it needs is a fresh layer of thermal compound.

I dismounted the fan, and there were only traces of the thermal paste, applied a new layer of paste and the beeps are gone.
