Windows 2008 RDP/Terminal services - support for multiple versions of Office

How, if possible, could I support more than one version of Office on a Windows 2008 R2 Terminal Server?

Hi there,

I don't think so. Even if you could 'fiddle' something like this, I'd highly
disencourage such a configuration.

If the intention is to reduce the amount of servers used, I suppose to go for virtualization.

if you are including outlook, you will struggle.
Multiple versions of office can exist together but elements of the MAPI system that outook uses cannot be shared.

I would recommend against it anyway though as some settings and files are shared and would cause conflicts or unexpected results.

If you mean specific elemts however, this does work in most situations but is not supported by microsoft.
Outlook and word 2007 can coexist fine with excel 2003 and powerpoint 2000.

There are a variety of methods in Windows 2008 to run shared apps including virtualization of the apps as well as traditional TS type installation. Would it not be possible to run two different versions by having one version run one way and another run the other way?  If nobody here has experience or knowledge of the options available under R2 along these lines please let me know so I can ask the  moderator to circulate to Experts who have had experience or I will repost.

Not on the same install you can run VDI but this is different the the regular Terminal server this is not a limitation of Terminal server but a limitation of Office because of conflicting components.

You can install and use more than one version of Microsoft Office on a single computer. For example, you can install and use both Microsoft 2007 Office suites and programs and Microsoft Office 2003 on the same computer. However, we do not recommend this.

Note Microsoft does not support using multiple versions of Microsoft Office on versions of Microsoft Windows that have Terminal Services enabled. If you want to run multiple versions of Office, disable Terminal Services."

Can you expand on this a bit?  It sounds like an alternative that might work for me.
