I have been scouring the internet trying to find out how I can increase the revision number on each build of a debug version and increase the minor version after each build of a release version. Any help appreciated.

In solution Explorer Window (Top right):

right click on project name then click Properties

then Publish Tab

Put  Check on : 'Automatically increment revision with each publish'

and Build Application.

We dont publish our applications, only build them so I would think that wouldn't work?

You can not change version etc on build because by using the assemblyInfo.vb file you can just view(read) the the version number etc.

You must need to publish if you want to change Minor & Revision Numbers of the assembly.
