Microsoft Exchange Issued an unexpected response (12031)

In the last 2 weeks, 2 out of 3 people at my company are having issues uploading attachments to their e-mails, as well as having problems with sending e-mails out using Outlook Web Access.

Whenever they try to upload attachments or send out e-mails through OWA they receive the error "Microsoft Exchange issued an unexpected response (12031).

They are also sometimes receiving this error when logging into OWA.

They have no problems receiving inbound e-mails on OWA.

They have no issues with uploading attachments, receiving e-mail, or sending out e-mails using Outlook 2007.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you very much for your time. OWA error 12031

Do you have customization done in OWA, can you remove & test if any?

I have done 0 customizations in OWA since I first set it up 2 years ago. Nothing has changed besides MS updates and service packs to Exchange Server 2007, and the last time I did an update on exchange was almost 8 months ago.
Easiest solution is to recreate the user accounts and see if it continues.

That would require backing up all their e-mail, recreating their exchange accounts, and then restoring all that e-mail.

The issue ended up being AVG Internet Security Business Edition. Even though I had turned the firewall off after a failed attempt at setting it up properly, the service AVG Watchdog was still blocking OWA e-mail traffic hence creating the error 12031 in Outlook. Once I completely disabled AVG, all my clients were able to use OWA with 0 problems. Once Microsoft walks me through how to setup AVG so that there will be 0 conflicts between it and OWA, I will post the resolution and then close out the case.

Thank you for your time,
