Screen Recorder Recommendations

I currently create a lot of procedures using screenshots (simple printscreen and paste to word).  I'm looking for a nice (hopefully free) screen recorder that would allow me to record the steps required to show a procedure or tutorial for users in video format.  Optional sound would be nice but is not a requirement at the moment.  Could you post some links?  Points go to the recommendation that gets installed.  Thanks in advance!

snagit works pretty well, though, it's not free.
I use camstudio and it has never let me down.

Try Jing from the link below. It is free.

Wink as the first expert suggested is very good (and there is a portable version), Jing I've used and completely uninstalled from my system - It was just annoying and there were limitations.

AviScreen has no sound but works really well for video:

Xmedia Recode converts just about any video format from one to another:

screenr.com is a great website that lets you capture up to 5 minutes of video at a time and then either download or publish it:
