post install sbs2008

Hi
I've managed to avoid sbs2008 up to now, but I have a customer who insisted that was what he wanted rather than a simple straightforward reliable Centos linux server.
OK, I've run the install, been shocked by the memory requirements and now I have a running server with a few steps to complete. Before taking it back to the customer to complete his network I have a few questions.
At the moment he has a BT router, a Draytek 2820 was ordered but has not arrived yet. I wanted the router to handle the VPN. I believe I must let the sbs2008 have dhcp and dns, but is there any benefit in using it as a VPN server as well. How can I turn that off?
I gather from googling that the built in backup program does NOT back up Exchange. That seems odd to say the least! I have fitted a 50Gb Blu-Ray DVD, will the built in backup work with that. What about a cheap 3rd party program like Backup4all which seems to support sbs2008  and blu-ray but does not mention Exchange either.
I've installed Forefront, but is this not a short-term trial version. I could not find what it would cost and how does it compare with GFI?
Joining the domain. I would normally join PCs to the domain at each desktop. Is there any point using the wizard on the server?

The built in Backup DOES support Exchange so this isn't a problem.
As for the 50GB BluRay recorder, I will be honest, I have never tried so I have absolutely no idea.

Comparitive, it's up there with the top vendors but I guess it's upto you, I don't use it on most of my clients, I find Vamsoft for SPAM and ESET NOD32 for Antivirus is sufficient for my neads and a lot cheaper.  I would presonally remove Forefront.

With regards to joining the domain you need to browse to https://connect this will run the wizard ON the client machine and connect it to SBS, there are a number of settings that are added/modified by doing this and it is a must for an SBS environment.

I think that's all the questions :)
>>3) The built-in SBS backup does *not* do optical media. You'll need to go 3rd-party.

That's not what it says here: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sbs/cc817589.aspx

Windows Server 2008 provides the backup technology for Windows Small Business Server 2008. Windows Server Backup uses completely new technology for creating and restoring backups. Some of the more important features are using block-level backup and restore, for faster data copying, and using removable media such as optical or external drives.

Thanks
I could not find any indication that the built in backup would use the blu-ray. The wizard joined two of the machines to the domain and fell over on the third. Although it did join the PC to the domain, I had to copy the profile folders manually. I haven't made my mind up about forefront - haven't found a price either!
