Hosted BES to In-house BESx

Hi there,

Currently, the client has about 10 users on a hosted BES. I'm moving them in house with SBS and BES Xpress. Is there a way to switch their phones to the new BES without wiping out their data? And if the backup / wipe / restore is the only way, what's the easiest way to do it without having 400 duplicates?

Thanks!

You should be able to reactivate it to the new server, by just setting a new activation pin, and activate the handset. As long as you do not choose to wipe them, they should still hold all the old data.
I would get a test unit and test first though and make sure, or do a full backup using BDM so you can restore if neccesary

Thanks for your response.

I personally do not want to wipe their device, I'd rather just send a new activation pin, but I need a definite answer if it's going to work, not experiment ;)

I am about 90% sure it will work, its been a long time since i have done anything like this, and its not easy remembering everything!!
hehe, I appreciate the honesty.
Do you know if i have to do anything with handheldcleanup?
I do have to state, I'm not migrating the hosted DB in-house. I'll be having a new DB. Can anyone verify that only an EA is needed to cut them over?

Thanks!

If I do backup/wipe then activate, followed by a restore, that shouldn't cause dupes right? Only asking cuz I know how BES auto populates email/contacts/calendar once you activate.
A restore will cause duplicates for anything that is set to wireless sync as the backed up items will be associated with the old service books.
Ok thanks - is there any way to avoid this? In my gut I know the answer already but I just want to make sure :)
