Monitor

Dear experts,
Recently I acquired a monitor, however, it wasn't working. It would always blink out when you turned it on. It is a 19 in. Dell monitor, it has usb ports, vga port, and a dvi port. I connected it to two computers and tested it out. When you turn it on, it blinks the computer's desktop and goes to black. It also blinks on when you switch between the different computers. I was wondering if there is anything I can do to fix it.
Thanks

It's a 1907FPt, but I think I can figure it out from the other links. Thanks so much, this will give me something to work on for a while!

Very thorough, thanks for all your help
i read on one of those posts a guy saying "it's about to be trash one way or the other so no harm in trying"

i have two 19" acers and a 24" acer in the basement with the same problem, never had the time to take them apart yet

i have contact details for a guy that does this process, he charges $35 plus parts (like $3), you pay shipping both ways.  unfortunately i haven't found the time to box them up either (you send him the power board he replaces the capacitors)

ok, but I think I'd like to do this one, kind of as something to do for a project, but thanks anyway
