VPN not working on Windows 7

Hi All,
I Have a client who's VPN terminates at a Linux firewall. He can connect using L2TP/IPsec with a valid certificate in XP but cannot connect using the same settings and credentials in Windows 7. He keeps getting error 810.

I've tried on several windows 7 machines with no joy and tried changing all the settings which made no difference although when I removed the cert from the cert store it took alot longer for any error message to appear. With the certificate in the store error 810 appears within seconds of pressing connect. Therefore I'm guessin this has something to do with cert even though it works in XP.

Any help appreciated.

Cheers

by the way VPN also works on the clients Vista box.

Error 810:
A network connection between your  computer and the VPN server was started, but the VPN connection was not  completed. This is typically caused by the use of an incorrect or  expired certificate for authentication between the client and the  server. Please contact your Administrator to ensure that the certificate  being used for authentication is valid.

Also authentification methods may have changed in Win 7 - tightening security, so you may need to "downgrade" authentification on Win 7 for this to work.

I hope this helps !

Thanks for the links, they were helpful. Turned out ot be an issue with where I was placing the certificate and also the username was case sensitive.
Specifically I shouild have assigned the cert to the local computer and then let the wizard store the cert automatically. Also there is an opton in the l2tp/ipsec advanced settings that has to be unchecked...I cant remember exactly as I dont have windows 7 in front of me but it was do with checking username/password. One other thing to consider is the use domain username and password setting, try turning that off it doesnt work,
