Running Facebook PPC for 8 months and things started going down the drain now!!!

Hello Everyone,

I started running facebook PPC last year in September and have had success until 3 months ago. My ads are a niche target (for people who have criminal records) so the best CTR I ever got was 0.035 which is understandable.

The ads take the users on a landing page where they enter their information for us to call them back and try to close a sale. www.pardonsonly.ca/pardon1/ is one of the landing pages I am using and have had very good success with until February.

Until Middle of January this year, I was spending $100 a day and that would get me around 150 clicks and I would get 25 conversions out of that, bringing my cost per lead to $4/lead or /conversion.

I have had 20 different campaigns setup and I had been using all of them and they would all have pretty much the same results. Around 3 months ago, for some reason, things started to change and have gotten to a point where I am getting clicks, I am getting visitors, I still have CTRs of 0.035 however two things have changed:

1. Bid ranges / suggested CPC bids have skyrocketed to around 1.25 (previously between 0.50 - 0.75), this may be because more advertisers are using facebook OKAY, no problem!

2. I am getting a lot of clicks but no conversions. Until two months ago, I had 1 conversion out of every 7 clicks. Now I am not getting even one conversion out of 30 clicks. I get 1 conversion out of 40 clicks IF i am lucky.

I have tried many things. I have run the same ads and campaigns that i was running before during the good times with same results. then I created new ones and same results. Then I created a new facebook account and same results. I am frustrated now and I think facebook is defrauding me in some way. I have spent thousands of dollars in the past 3 months.

Is it possible that facebook is repeatedly charging me for clicks that are ACTUALLY not happening?

Am I doing something wrong or do you guys have any other suggestions? Another thing that changed in the past 3 months is that FB is disapproving ads left right and center. You have to fight with them to get an ad approved.

Can any one tell me what is going on or any suggestions? What should I change or try?

Sincerely,

AJ

Have you checked to see what other competitors are out there?

Yes I have. None of my competitors are running facebook ads.
I would check to see if there's a setting on Facebook to allow them to push their ads to affiliate websites. Facebook wouldn't go to click fraud becuase of the liability of a lawsuit but any affiliate third party sites would.
You should be able to easily check how many clicks are coming to your landing pages and from where with Google Analytics. Have you run tests on FB to see what type of content causes your ad to come up? It sounds like there may be a disconnect between the message that is approved (If you have to fight FB to get it up. Did it change at all?) and what the customer is looking for, thus the lower conversion rate.

also... I just noticed something...

Your main page has important words in red, where your landing page does not.

I am betting highlighting those words in red will make a big difference.
