Citrix - Delivery Services Console - "Run Discovery" Shows No Farms/Results

I just completed a fresh install of XenApp 5 for Server 2003 on a clean server. The installation went without a hitch, however I am unable to successfully "Run Discovery" on the Delivery Services Console.

Despite this, if I run "XenApp Advanced Configuration", the farm is immediately discovered and listed. Likewise, I am able to authenticate into the Web Interfaces (both PNAgent and Web Portal) without issue -- though after authentication, it says there are no resources available for this user (since I am unable to access the Delivery Services Console to add any applications)

I am stumped -- particular because my Clients can connect just fine -- and the XenApp Advanced Configuration can discover my farm.

There are no errors in my error log.

My license server is configured correctly.

When clicking "Run Discovery", it does not ask me the server to run discovery on (perhaps only v4.5 did this) -- it immediately begins discovery, and the dialog box hides once complete. No errors are given.

Any assistance would be appreciated.

Upgrade the console to 4.7.1 and see if that resolves the error.

I have encountered the exact issue before when I installed an instance of Xenapp on to an incompatible OS (I have tried to install Xenapp5 to windows 2008 R2). When I installed Xenapp6, the problem resolved.

Thank you for your reply.

I am able to "Configure and Run Discovery" but after discovery is run, it does not refresh the "left column" with the name of my farm, so that I can manage my farm.

The left column contains:

Citrix Delivery Services Console
- Search Results
- My Views
- Citrix Resources
- Configuration Tools
- Single Sign On

And after running discovery it reads:
Citrix Delivery Services Console
- Search Results
- My Views
- Citrix Resources
- Configuration Tools
- Single Sign On
- User Configurations
- Application Definitions
- Password Policies
- Identity Verification
There is no listing for my farm. Despite this, my farm is listed immediately when I laungh the XenApp Advanced Configuration application. This action is the same for Local Administrator and Domain Administrator (which is the account the app was installed under)

I should add:
When I attempt to Run Discovery, under the "Select Products or Components Step", I do not have an option / checkbox for "XenApp".
Did you update DSC to 4.7.1?

Thank you for your reply.

Yes, I upgraded but that did not resolve the error.
Recreate the local host cache file. I think the command is dsmaint recreatelhc

Unfortunately, that did not work either.

I should note that none of these efforts are giving me the "XenApp" checkbox option during the Configure and Run Discovery step.  It seems that without that "XenApp" option, I'd never be able to administer my farm from the Delivery Console.

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to get the XenApp option back again?
One of two things may be going on here.  Either, you have a file called "mmc.exe.config" in your Windows\System32 folder and you should try deleting/renaming it.  Or, if the file doesn't exist, try creating a file called “mmc.exe.config” in the \Windows\system32 directory and add the following lines to the file. You should be able to open the Access Suite Console without any further problems.

<?xml version ="1.0"?>
<configuration>
       <startup>
            <requiredRuntime version="v1.1.4322"/>
            <supportedRuntime version="v1.1.4322"/>
       </startup>
</configuration>
Downloaded the console from citrix  http://support.citrix.com/article/CTX122214

and installed it. I didn't have to do anything special to install it

Thanks for your suggestion, but this did not work.

- The mmc.exe.config file did not exist in \windows\system32

- Created the file as you suggested, but this just caused an error when I launch the Delivery Services Console that says:   "MMC could not create the snap in.  The snap in might not have been installed correctly"

- The download link you provided is to an older version of the software.  It tells me that this product is already installed.

No luck so far.
Un-check single sign on option and run discovery again.

That had no impact.
are you selecting the "local computer" during the discovery process?

Currently, I don't even get prompted to add a computer name.  "XenApp" is not an option during the discovery process.  It only prompts me to identify my Domain Controller / access store.

This server isn't joined to the farm then... have you tried the "chfarm" command at a command prompt yet?
Or do a reinstall of XenApp and let it repair itself.

But, it is joined to the farm:  When I launc XenApp Advanced Configuration it connects to the farm name.

I've unjoined and rejoined a farm via chfarm, too, for testing purposes.

It's joined to the farm, but the Delivery Console displays no details about the farm or similar information.

I published this question to the Citrix Forum, too, and another user who attempted an upgrade from 4.5 is having the identical issue.

Is this the only citrix server you have?  If not, can you open the AMC from another server?
Remove password manager option when you run configure and discover
If you are using the  Delivery Services console you have the wrong management version.  Try installing a lower version, the AMC version for 4.5.

But, I'm using XenApp5
Appears there is a conflict with .Net Framework 2.0 SP2 and 3.5 SP2.

I know Citrix calls it that but only if you have FR2 or higher, otherwise XA5 installed on a Windows 2003 server still uses the 4.5 console.
